
In November 2019 Kingspan Insulation hosted an event with GIW Environmental Solutions in their co-working space in Richmond, Melbourne. The event, which gathered architectural, construction and building professionals, was organised to address the PI insurance crisis in the Australian construction sector and discuss achieving National Construction Code (NCC) compliance through the performance solution pathway.
The NCC 2019 transition period is expiring on May 1st, 2020 and it will introduce the biggest changes to energy efficiency of buildings, as outlined in Section J, in Australian construction industry’s history. The roles of many industry professionals will be greatly affected, and some of the most impacted are ESD consultants.
ESD consultants assess compliance to the energy efficiency requirements of the NCC and are absolutely invaluable to designing better buildings. They provide advice on design plans and building materials and can also perform simulations before the building stage is even started to determine exactly how a finished building will perform in real life.
