The $14 million dollar project has provided the town with a library, council meeting rooms, community spaces and a café.
The contemporary design aimed to provide a functional, energy efficient space that would combine community buildings and the Moe train lines into a single central hub. With a 1980 m2 footprint, the project was able to deliver a vibrant, dynamic and attractive community center for all Moe residents to enjoy.
“Our design required a very low profile roof, along with very high specification insulation and building sealing. We workshopped options with Kingspan Insulation and Sika Membranes, to achieve a combined system that met design requirements”, commented FJMT architect, Louise Goodman.
On top of the product, gravel roof areas were added to add to the aesthetic and give the building its unique and identifiable look.
Kingspan Insulation met with FJMT during the design and documentation phases of the project to provide samples and to assist with drawing up the specifications.
“Kingspan provided prompt and direct assistance on the development of the project, providing technical assistance, including calculations, design and documentation drawings for the tapered insulation, the green roof, and across the gravel roof areas”, continued Goodman. Helping the building achieve a 6 Star Green Star rating, Kingspan’s Kooltherm K12 Framing Board and Kooltherm K10 Soffit Board were also specified. Contractors South City Plaster used the products on the building's wall and soffits respectively.
