About the Building Safety Act 2022

Introduced following the Grenfell Tower fire in June 2017, the Building Safety Act 2022 introduces fundamental reform for the UK construction industry to improve the standard and safety of all buildings, not just those at a certain height or number of storeys. It applies in full in England, with parts of the regime applying to Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The legislation will impact all levels of the industry imposing wide-ranging new duties designed to increase the accountability, transparency and oversight of industry participants and the construction and development of higher-risk buildings.

More details on the Act are available from CPA.

Dame Judith Hackitt’s Building a Safer Future report, published in May 2018, has been the key driver for the policies and cultural shift that are being implemented through the Building Safety Act and various industry initiatives.
