Competency requirements

All individuals and organisations appointed to work on projects must demonstrate their competence, defined as having the appropriate "skills, knowledge, experience, and behaviours", and the right organisational capability. HSE guidance (hse.gov.uk)

The ‘

Setting the Bar
’ report provides a blueprint for improving the competence of those working on HRBs and driving culture change in the industry. It has led to sector-based frameworks that will provide the skills, knowledge, experience and behaviours needed to carry out specific roles, and deliver a more rigorous approach to the essential training and assessment that is required.

For Construction Products, through WG12, is the publication of ‘Built environment – proposed construction product competence standard – white paper’ which is being turned into a British Standard, expected to be published in early 2025.
