Three new bodies will provide the necessary oversight; these are:
Building Safety Regulator: BSR will oversee safety and standards of all buildings. It is led by the Director of Building Safety at the HSE, with an objective to secure safety of people in and around buildings, improve the standard of buildings, and support individuals and organisation with responsibilities to fulfil their duties. They will oversee all buildings with additional responsibilities for HRBs.
National regulator of Construction Products: This role has been established by the Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) to oversee and enforce an effective regulatory regime for construction products. It will become fully operational once the relevant secondary legislation is in place.
New Homes Ombudsman: for owners of new homes to raise complaint
New Dutyholder roles: manage building safety risks during the design and construction of all buildings. These include Principal designer, principal contractor and with specific duties for clients to ensure competence of those they appoint into these roles.
