Kingspan KoolDuct pre-insulated system passed rigorous, in-depth testing in relation to thermal resistance, ignitability, flame propagation, heat release, smoke release and burning to secure a BRANZ Appraisal No. 771 [2017].
KoolDuct can be used as ductwork without the need for sheet metal or other ducting substrates, in heating, ventilation and air-conditioning applications. It is incredibly lightweight, sometimes up to 85% lighter than sheet metal alternatives.
It has a thin profile making it an ideal retrofit option in heritage applications or where space is at premium. The product is non-fibrous, significantly reducing the itchy discomfort that installation of traditional systems often brings. Air leakage rates can be reduced by up to 80%, increasing its energy efficiency. Kingspan KoolDuct has the same exceptional fire performance clients have come to expect, from the other products in the Kooltherm phenolic range.
“KoolDuct is a fantastic product and having the BRANZ appraisal allows us to back up the facts. BRANZ have deemed us compliant with specific clauses of the New Zealand Building Code; Durability (B2), Fire Affecting Areas Beyond the Fire Source (C3), Hazardous Building Materials (F2) and Energy Efficiency (H1)”, commented technical R&D Manager Keith Anderson.
