STEICO flex 036
Flexible wood fibre insulated slab suitable for pitched roofs and walls
The world needs to drastically reduce greenhouse gas emissions to halt the effects of climate change. As buildings are responsible for 37% of all global carbon emissions*, there is an urgent need for products that will make buildings more energy efficient. Not just new buildings, but also existing buildings because so many of them have very poor energy efficiency.
Performance-based insulation is of course the backbone of very energy-efficient buildings. But buildings are complex, and no two buildings are the same nor have the same requirements. That’s why at Kingspan we are expanding our range of insulation solutions to include bio-based materials. Bio-based insulation materials, such as wood fibre are made from renewable sources and act as a carbon store, effectively locking carbon into the fabric of the building.

BioKor is a Kingspan trustmark which indicates that a product is made of a minimum of 80% bio-based content and combine the benefits of lower embodied carbon (LEC) with tested thermal properties.
Before a product is granted the use of the BioKor trustmark, that guarantees a minimum of 80% bio-based content, it needs to go through a process of third party verification of both the percentage (%) and the traceability, of the bio-based content.
Our STEICO wood fibre insulation products, STEICO flex 036 flexible slab and STEICO universal dry sheathing board, have been tested against EN 16785-2. This test uses the mass balance approach based on raw material use and their theoretical bio-based percentage, and has been validated by the BioSourcé label in France, including annual auditing.
