The versatile rainscreen insulation solution, which was fitted behind an aluminium rainscreen cladding system, achieves a thermal conductivity of 0.034 W/mK. This allowed the external walls to achieve a U-value of 0.20 W/m2K. The insulation slabs can be cut with a standard hard steel saw with correct PPE in line with CDM Guidelines, ensuring accurate trimming to achieve close butting of joints and continuity of insulation.
K-Roc Rainscreen Slab also contributed towards the project goal of reaching a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating, supporting with the achievement of points in a number of sections, including those related to energy efficiency and responsible material sourcing. The product is manufactured under a management system certified to ISO 14001: 2015 (Environmental management systems).

The new Greater Manchester Major Trauma Hospital at Salford Royal Hospital, part of the Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust, is set to provide much needed additional capacity to care for and treat major trauma patients.
K-Roc
With the hospital committed to achieve an 80% reduction in the carbon emissions they directly control by 2028 – 2032, it was also essential that the facility was well insulated to reduce the demand on its heating systems. To deliver this, whilst meeting the project requirements for a European Classification (Euroclass) A1 or A2 rated façade insulation, K-Roc Rainscreen Slab was fitted as part of the building’s rainscreen façade.
Products used in this Project
The rock mineral fibre insulation achieves a Euroclass rating of A1. This allows it to be used in all buildings regardless of building type, height construction, and location.
