Ebbw Fawr Learning Community Secondary Phase is part of The Works, a £300 million scheme to transform the site of a former steelworks in Blaenau Gwent into a state-of-the-art mixed use development.
This includes a new theatre, hospital, housing and a sports centre.

High performance Thermataper TT46 and Thermaroof TR26 were specified for the school’s flat roof by architects BDP, forming part of their passive design approach for the building.
"The main school roof comprises an area of 3775 m² and we needed a solution that could be simply fitted on both the metal and concrete deck areas. By installing the Kingspan Thermataper system we were able to create falls to the roof drainage outlets on both decks whilst also achieving the target roof U-value of 0.20 W/m²K.
We also used Kingspan’s waste take-back scheme on the project and this was a key reason for the products specification, helping to contribute towards credits in the Waste category of the BREEAM assessment".

Willmott Dixon acted as main contractor on the Ebbw Fawr Learning Community Secondary Phase which complements the recently completed Primary Phase, together delivering education provision for pupils from ages 3-16. The Works scheme was funded by the Welsh Government, Blaenau Gwent council and a number of other private firms.
