2025 Year in Review

From new product innovations, to stunning projects and some great fundraising challenges, there’s been lots going on at Kingspan Insulation in 2025.

Soffits sorted

Over the summer, we announced new updates to our soffit insulation range, giving specifiers and installers more options to meet the thermal and fire performance requirements on their projects.

The range now includes the new K-Roc Soffit Slab, a mineral fibre insulation with a Euroclass A1 reaction to fire rating. Available in thicknesses from 100 to 200 mm, the insulation slab has been assessed under Assessment and Verification of Constancy of Performance (AVCP) System 1 for Reaction to Fire and provides a solution for projects where enhanced fire performance is required.

We were also pleased to announce that Kooltherm K110 Soffit Board now achieves a Euroclass rating of B-s2,d0 when installed correctly (foil face on the outside), meaning it may be considered for further applications to meet the guidance of the Building Regulations. The lightweight boards have a thermal conductivity of just 0.019 W/mK and are FM Approved to FM 4880 subject to the conditions of approval.

These products join AlphaCore Pad and Kooltherm K110 PLUS Soffit Board as part of our complete soffit range.

Leading on learning

With new regulations and guidance coming thick and fast, it can be a challenge to stay up to date with the current requirements around insulation. To help customers  learn on the go we launched Kingspan Learn – our dedicated e-learning platform.

Free to enrol, the platform features a range of courses, from the basics of insulation, to understanding solid wall insulation. Each course is broken down into bite-sized modules, allowing you to learn on your own timeline.

We’ve also introduced a new Fire Safety for Insulation Solutions CPD which covers key concepts in fire safety, how insulation products are tested and the current Regulations in England, Scotland and Wales. As with all our CPD courses, you can book a seminar session to be delivered virtually or in person.

Against the clock for charity

Over the course of the year, our staff have taken part in a number of fundraising events to raise money for CRASH, UK Construction Industry charity.

In June, the ‘Kingspan Lions’, made up from staff from Kingspan Insulation, took to the Thames, battling against 39 other construction firms as part of the CRASH Construction Industry Dragon Boat Challenge. The team did a fantastic job and the event helped to raise a total of £26,305 for the charity.

At the end of September, members of our Product Development team donned their walking boots and raincoats to tackle the Yorkshire Three Peaks. The 24-mile route includes 1,585 m of ascent and, as part of the challenge, the team needed to complete the hike in under 12 hours. Despite having to battle the elements, the team managed to complete the challenge, raising over £2,000 in the process.

Super Trowel 2025

Kingspan Insulation was also pleased to be able to sponsor the Hardest Hod event at Super Trowel 2025. The two-day bricklaying event is a highlight of the summer calendar and we were delighted to catch up with many of the attendees at our stand. Huge congratulations again to Dylan O’Shaughnessy who came out on top in this year’s challenge as the fastest to unload 1,001 bricks – taking home a prize of £1,001.

Seen on site

During the year we have published a number of case studies which showcase our full spectrum of products and how they can be used in a diverse range of applications. From complex commercial projects to a self-build house.

At the Natural History Museum in London, work has completed on a major redevelopment of their five-acre gardens, transforming the site into a welcoming, accessible, and biodiverse green space.

One key challenge posed by converting the space below the tower was upgrading the thermal performance of the floor to align with the target floor U-value of 0.10 W/m2K. It was crucial to limit the depth of the insulation layer to maintain comfortable headroom within the finished event space. This led to the specification of the OPTIM-R Flooring System.

Sam Stowe, Walter Lilly Site Manager, commented, "Kingspan OPTIM-R insulation was utilised on our Urban Nature Project and proved to be an excellent choice in meeting the project's thermal performance targets.” Find out more here.

Our Kooltherm products remain a popular choice for self-build projects as was seen at Beech House in rural Cambridgeshire. Swann Edwards Architecture specified Kooltherm K103 Floorboard, Kooltherm K107 Pitched Roof Board and Kooltherm K118 Insulated Plasterboard for the new build farmhouse.

To meet planning requirements, the build needed to comply with set requirements in the National Planning Policy Framework. The home was designed to be sympathetic to the surrounding architecture whilst also achieving excellent levels of energy efficiency.

The leading performance of our insulation solutions has also seen them used as part of ambitious retrofit projects such as 1000 Aztec West where a tired 1980s office development was transformed into a stunning modern headquarters which achieves net zero operational carbon.

The revitalised building features two large roof terraces providing views out across the surrounding countryside. To ensure these could meet the key fabric performance targets, whilst also providing an even floor transition between the internal and external floor spaces, the OPTIM-R E Inverted Roofing System was chosen.

The system comprises vacuum insulation panels (VIPs) which are encapsulated in a coating for increased robustness. This design allows them to achieve a thermal conductivity as low as 0.008 W/mK, and a design thermal conductivity as low as 0.009 W/mK. Fitted in combination with a Kingspan GreenGuard GG300 overlay, the project team were able to achieve a slimmer build-up than would be possible with other types of insulation.
