GreenGuard RainDrop 3D Building Wrap
Air/water barrier - 3D drainage channels, breathes, non-perforated, durable
Since 1991, the St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway has raised over $400 million for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. With the help of sponsors who donate time, materials and expertise, 475 homes have been given away in more than 40 communities nationwide. All proceeds raised from the sale of raffle tickets go to support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
“The St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is leading the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases, and one of the things that makes St. Jude a little bit different than other research facilities and children’s hospitals is that families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food,” said Teresa Buscemi, Regional Development Representative, ALSAC. “Because of the generosity of our partners and community, efforts like the Las Vegas St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway are able to further the life-saving mission of St. Jude which is Finding Cures. Saving Children.”
Element Building Company, a Las Vegas-based residential construction company, was the general contractor for Nevada’s first-ever St. Jude Dream Home giveaway. The 2017 Dream Home was designed by Hoogland Architecture and boasts approximately 2,300 square feet of living space, a covered courtyard with an opening to the sky, a spacious kitchen with a walk-in pantry, an expansive living room with 30 ft. sliding glass doors, and a 14-foot high ceiling and has an estimated value of $425,000.
To keep the home moisture-free, Kingspan supplied Element with Kingspan RainDrop® Building Wrap and Standard Flashing. Together, the wrap and flashing comprise a complete system that ensures excellent air and moisture barrier performance and UV stability for up to nine months.
“Our area does not get a lot of rain and we see an incredible amount of UV and heat which tends to break down most building products. So, when it does rain most products fail. We feel that Kingspan RainDrop® Building Wrap and Flashing are designed to outperform our climate conditions and perform for the long haul,” Cimino said. “Our contractors felt the installation process was easy. With the pattern of the wrap, the tradesmen were able to provide a seamless transition, even with overlap.”
Kingspan RainDrop® Building Wrap’s innovative approach uses drainage channels to keep water out of the wall system. In addition, RainDrop® is a non-perforated wrap that breathes to allow moisture vapor to escape.
Standard Flashing is an economical self-adhering flashing membrane comprised of a polyolefin film with a rubber-modified asphalt adhesive. It is designed to seal the interface around wall penetrations such as windows, doors, pipe penetrations, and other areas that may require a weatherproof seal.
“Element Building Company prides itself on utilizing new technology and cutting-edge products on our projects,” remarked Gino Cimino, Construction Management, Element Building Company. “We feel that Kingspan’s products are innovative and perform better than the competition. Our experience working with them on the St. Jude Dream Home was great and we are happy with the value of their products”
