Mosterton is set within one of the most desirable and expensive rural areas in the country with average house prices exceeding £300,000. The Bushels housing development offers 36, much needed, one – four bedroomed homes to the village. It has been carefully designed by Acheson Construction in collaboration with Boon Brown Architects to ensure it fits seamlessly within the local architectural style. This includes the use of a range of traditional materials including natural slate tiles, brick and reconstructed stone cladding.
Kooltherm K108 Cavity Board is one of the thinnest commonly used insulation for partial fill cavity walls which allowed the project to achieve compliant external wall U-values with an insulation depth of just 75 mm. The board’s reflective, low emissivity foil facing also increases the thermal resistance of the cavity, helping to retain heat during cooler months and reflect away solar radiation in the summer to guard against overheating.
This excellent thermal performance allowed Acheson Construction to keep external wall construction depths to a minimum, maximising living space within the available plots for the homes. Window reveal depths could also be kept slimmer than would have been possible with a lower performing insulant, helping to increase natural light levels within the homes.

In addition to ensuring the homes were priced reasonably, the project team were also keen to ensure the homes used heat efficiently and would support the health and wellbeing of residents.
